My recent visit to Japan was in September. It had been approximately a year since I've visited my so called second home. This time other than Tokyo, we decided to visit Kyoto as well - the old town of Japan.

I always loved Kyoto - I adore the rich Japanese culture that still remains in this city, you can see it in the beautiful temples , old Japanese architectures, sceneries, and especially the food.

Talking about food in Kyoto - they are famous for Kaiseki cuisine. Kaiseki cuisine is a traditional course menu where it involves a particular skill to create each dish. Most of the dishes come in small but beautiful portions. Today I'd like to introduce to you one of our go to Kaiseki cuisine restaurant GiroGiro Hitoshina (枝魯枝魯ひとしな).

The restaurant in Kyoto is cozy and 2 floors high. The best seats though would be at the counter where you can see the chefs work their magic on each dish served to you. You can enjoy 8 dishes ( fixed course menu appetizers up to dessert, excluding drinks) within only 3,680 JPY (approximately 1,300 THB , 36 USD) per person. Not bad huh ? The course menu does change seasonally - that's why you'll never get bored of this place because the experience will always be renewed !

Ok here's a look at the set course that I had. Looks amazing doesn't it ? Well it tastes amazing too! Don't let the portions fool you - it does fill you up once you hit your 7th dish. Too bad I can't explain every dish here since I'm sure this blog will become a super loooooong essay...which may probably bore everyone. Just know that not only the taste of the food but just being able to soak up the atmosphere there is just satisfying.

When I first went to this restaurant in Kyoto (6-7 years ago?) - there were no other branches yet but now they have expanded globally out to Paris and Honolulu. Recently they've opened in Tokyo as well.

If you are ever in Kyoto - check it out. Trust me - you'll love it ♥
